Condominium property is ubiquitous in Vancouver’s 21st century property market, and it is increasingly prevalent across British Columbia in urban, suburban, rural, and resort-town settings. Although unusually widespread in this province, condominium or strata property is a growing national and international phenomenon. Its modern history is brief, but its impact on the landscape and on the nature of ownership is increasingly profound. Through a series of condominium property stories, this inaugural lecture considers the transformative power of this innovation in land ownership.
