Abstract

This piece is a transcript of the final keynote address at the forty-third Annual Women in Law Dinner, delivered on 5 March 2020 by Dr. Carol Liao at the Fairmont Hotel, Vancouver, British Columbia, the unceded territories of the (Musqueam), Skwx̱ wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, one week before the city went into COVID-19 lockdown. The event was hosted by the University of British Columbia Allard Law Women's Caucus and attended by over three hundred women lawyers and their supporters. Dr. Liao received a standing ovation following her speech.
